Frank Hannon, co-founder and lead guitarist of the hard rock band TESLA, has released a
new music video for his instrumental track “San Francisco.” The song taps into a
deeper improvisational lineage Frank has long been part of -– a side of his
playing that has often lived just outside the spotlight of his arena-rock
success and highlights a more exploratory guitar voice that many listeners may
not immediately associate with him.
“San Francisco” is the latest single from his new, country-western infused
instrumental album, Reflections. The video features original, hand-played oil-light visuals from
Brotherhood of Light Show artist Chris Samardizch, directly connecting the
project to the Fillmore-era psychedelic tradition that helped shape the Bay
Area jam scene.
While Frank is widely known for his arena-rock legacy, another side of his
story has always leaned toward improvisation and the communal Bay Area
tradition. Hisfather-in-law was Dickey Betts, and
that melodic, exploratory sensibility runs through his phrasing. He has sat
in multiple times with moe. and built a close musical bond with
members of the Allman Betts family, earning credibility in rooms
where his metal reputation initially raised eyebrows. Growing up in Northern
California, the influence of Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and Santana shaped
how he approaches harmony and feel on the guitar.
That spirit is front and center on Reflections, an instrumental album that
feels like a natural evolution for him. Recorded as raw first takes with an
emphasis on touch and emotional arc, it captures instinct over polish. “San
Francisco” was tracked as an open-ended jam, beginning with live bass and
expanded through one-take guitar overdubs, moving from psychedelic textures
into a flamenco-inspired bridge.
Frank first connected with Samardizch at the Fillmore while performing with
Devon Allman and Duane Betts, making the collaboration feel rooted in shared
history. The Brotherhood of Light Show lineage traces back to the Summer of
Love, the Monterey Pop Festival, and decades at the Fillmore Auditorium.

A WARNING ABOUT THE LIBERTY CODE BY THE CENTAURIANS
NOVAKAIN is a groove heavy / rock trio from Dallas TEXAS, that
draws influences from old school 70’s rock music while adding their own modern
twists to their songs.
They keep their music raw with the crunchy guitar tones
of KYLE KAIN, mixed with the artistic lyrics and edgy bass playing of his
brother bassist / vocalist DYLAN KAIN. Nailed down with the solid yet funky
drum chops of JOHN BEREUTER, NOVAKAIN has an infectious style of their own. The
band has created a killer album titled “The Oh No!
Unknown” that
recently caught the ear of Tesla’s guitarist / producer Frank Hannon.
Frank states “I met these guys at a gig in Dallas TX hanging out in the
parking lot. I didn’t even hear them that night. A few days later I listened to
the album and was blown away! NovaKain are the coolest “unknown” band I’ve
heard in years, and I’ve decided to help spread the word about them and this
album.”
Now the band is teaming up with the album’s producer Jeff
Mount at Session works studio and Frank Hannon to produce a radio single and
music video for the song “I Don’t Care” to be released at rock radio stations
and media outlets nationwide.
“This is a passion project for me because I like
the guys and really dig their music. They’ve been paying dues around Dallas for
the last 10 years and I’d like to see them step up and get heard.”

BOOK REVIEW
-By Literary Titan (5) STARS
The Rock Star Chronicles by Ray Shasho, is a splendid book written by a music enthusiast who has poured their heart and soul into it. It’s a story of a boy who loved rock music, and his obsessive passion of it earned himself the name Rock Raymond. He went to school but instead was schooled in all matters of music while his peers were buried chin-deep in coursework. He then became a radio DJ and has now compiled a book on all interviews he held with Rock gods who raided the airwaves back in the 70s and 80s. It’s a compilation of interviews with outstanding vocalists, legendary guitarists and crazy drummers in the rock music scene. Each interview gives a reader an in-depth view into their personal lives and the philosophies that guide their lives which all serve to humanize these great icons. For readers who are old enough to call themselves baby boomers this book will bring old memories back to life. Millennials, on the other hand, may think of this book as a literal work of the Carpool Karaoke show.
The Rock Star Chronicles is a book I didn’t know I was waiting for. To come across a book that will talk me into trying something new. One brave enough to incite me to venture into new frontiers. This book made me a believer- I am now a bona fide Rock and Roll music fan.
Ray Shasho masterfully gets the interviewees talking. He smartly coaxes answers from them with crafty questions designed to get a story rolling out of them. The artists talk about diverse issues ranging from music, politics, and their social engagements. Having been on the music seen all his life, Ray Shasho knows the buttons to press, how to get them comfortable about talking about their lives.
The book’s cover is befitting of its subject matter with the leather look offering a royal background to the golden letter print. It speaks to how high a level rock music holds in the pecking order- arguably, modern music as we know it has originated from blues and rock music. The second noteworthy thing is the use of high-definition pictures to reference the musician being interviewed in every sub-chapter. This ensures that the book is for both original rock and roll lovers and aspiring new ones. Together is makes for a refreshing and consistently enjoyable read.
I recommend this book to rock music enthusiasts, aspiring musicians wondering what it takes and all readers curious to learn new things by going back in time.
In the summer of 1971, BANG, a trio from the Philadelphia
area, decided to take a road trip to Florida to try their fortune. While buying
some rolling papers in the Sunshine State, they learned about a Faces and Deep
Purple concert nearby in Orlando. They showed up at the venue and brazenly
declared they were ready to go on stage. The concert organizer asked them to
set up and play for him.
After a couple songs, he told them they were opening
for Rod Stewart and Faces. Before they knew it, BANG was playing with Bachman
Turner Overdrive, Deep Purple, Three Dog Night, Fleetwood Mac, Ike and Tina
Turner, The Doobie Brothers, and even Black Sabbath. Capitol Records signed
them, and three LPs were released.
The 1971 self-titled debut album “BANG” is considered an
important forerunner to the early Doom Metal genre. Undoubtedly one of
America’s heaviest 'proto metal' bands from the period, BANG also had a strong
sense of melodic power. The band’s versatility and songwriting skills are
second to none. Highly regarded as a cult act by many for years, it’s now time
for this truly amazing rock band to be enjoyed by a new audience worldwide!
It’s been nearly 20 years since the band’s previous studio
album, two decades in which they’ve overcome incredible challenges, all to
bring this epic slab of heavy, melodic psychedelic metal to their still loyal
fanbase!BANG, is back with a new album “Another Me”! Featuring all 3

With the heaviness of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, coupled
with the groove of Grand Funk Railroad, BANG released three critically
acclaimed albums on Capitol Records in the early 1970s before disappearing for
a number of years. 2023 marks the 52nd anniversary of BANG’s critically
acclaimed debut album which was just reissued last week on a unique, limited
