The Tangent is a Progressive Rock Band from Northern England, based around keyboards player, composer and idiosyncratic vocalist Andy Tillison Diskdrive.

Their music is cinematic and lyrical, full of narrative, often telling stories or making observations about the world we live in - often choosing subject matter more associated with Anarcho-Punk bands than with the genre in which the band choose to base themselves. "No Hobbits or Orcs in our songs" The band have released a steady output of well-regarded albums through their record label Inside Out Music.

The band has changed personnel many times and has used this fluidity to keep ideas fresh and lucid. The debut album released in 2003 The Music that Died Alone was often referred to as a "supergroup" project, though Tillison has always eschewed this title, preferring to go for the less obvious "a good idea".

In twelve years, the group has had close affiliations with Swedish progressive legends The Flower Kings, and Jonas Reingold (bass) from that band remains in the Tangent to this day despite the departure of Roine Stolt from the Tangent ten years ago now. David Jackson (Van Der Graaf Generator) was heavily featured on that debut album, Jakko Jakszyk (now of King Crimson) has been a frequent collaborator along with Theo Travis (Steven Wilson Band, Soft Machine Legacy, Gong etc.). Guy Manning, Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree), David Longdon (Big Big Train) have all played key roles in the band's development and the band was instrumental in bringing the talents of the astonishing young guitarist Luke Machin (Maschine) to the world for the first time.

Tangent philosophy has been to embrace other more contemporary bands. Whether overtly progressive themselves (Flower Kings, Spock's Beard, Argos, Magenta etc.) or completely away from the official boundaries of the genre into metal, Jazz, modern pop, soul, disco and film music, the Tangent do not follow the prog rock rule book.

"It's more what we don't do that sets us apart" Tillison said in a 2007 interview... "we've always avoided doing the 12 string acoustic stuff, and in fact anything that gets too Genesissy or Floyd-like usually (not always) gets binned.. that's not to say that there aren't influences.. just that we don't like the idea of being confined to the styles of those particular figureheads. The spirit of progressive rock music was carried by lots more people than Genesis. I think that too many of us (new bands) use the obvious source - i.e. the 70s bands and forget to look around us and see what our contemporaries are up to!"

The original members of Nektar; Derek “Mo” Moore, Ron Howden, and Mick Brockett are back. We’ve added Ryche Chlanda from Fireballet and the 78′ band, Randy Dembo from the 2005 band, and newcomer and world-class keyboard player, Kendall Scott.

The music for our new album “The Other Side” comes from the 1978 era when we were writing in Mo’s basement in Chatham, New Jersey. This music was put on pause for the last 40 YEARS and it’s now time to release it with new input and fresh ideas. The music is growing exponentially as we continue rehearsing and writing and letting it take us to new heights.

Nektar's contribution over the last 49 years has quite rightly earned them their place in any 'Progressive Rock Hall of Fame'. But the band is much more than a 'Prog Legend', the Nektar brand of innovative composition, performance and visuals is simply unique. 

Nektar's history appeared to have been written when they finally split in the early eighties. Despite attempts to re-kindle the flame, the Nektar light, it seemed, was out . . . . until that is, the year 2000. 

The new millennium saw the long-awaited reunion tour of the classic line up, to rave reviews and fantastic receptions. The light we thought was out, had in fact been kept aglow - by loyal fans across the globe. 

Sixteen years on and the family has grown a little, but the classic Nektar spirit is still very much alive, building on the band's rediscovered popularity. The Nektar family is determined to continue bringing Nektar music to you around the world.

Strawbs are Britain's most successful international progressive folk-rock band. They are mentioned in the same breath as progressive rock bands Yes, King Crimson and The Moody Blues. The event will take place at The Strand Theater in Lakewood, New Jersey from April 26 through April 28, 2019 and will be hosted by Strawbs founding member David Cousins, along with long serving band mates Chas Cronk, Dave Lambert, Tony Fernandez and the band’s latest addition, Dave Bainbridge. Renaissance has had a long history spanning close to 50 years since its formation in 1969. With several personnel changes in the beginning years, the sound of the group eventually matured into a unique blending of folk, rock, and classical music including the integration of a full symphonic orchestra. Crowning all of this was the sound of the equally unique five-octave voice of Annie Haslam. During their great success in the 70’s the band toured extensively throughout the world in support of their numerous album releases. Highlights of this era included three sold out concerts at Carnegie Hall with The New York Philharmonic Orchestra and a sold-out concert at The Royal Albert Hall with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Chorale Society, all of which were recorded and released as ‘Live’ albums.

The woman whose crystal clear, high-flying soprano vocals earned her worldwide attention as the lead singer of the English classical rock band ‘Renaissance’ has recently achieved an entirely new level of appreciation as an ‘Intuitive’ painter. Annie is able to ‘tune’ into people, animals, situations, feelings and places, and portray them in her own unique style.
On canvas, Annie Haslam’s unmistakable world of sound is taken into unique vistas of color and vibration, not unlike the flow of her five-octave voice. Transporting the viewer to other worlds and through inner boundaries is her ultimate goal, bringing healing, serenity and peace through her work.
In 2009 Annie and bandmate Michael Dunford reformed ‘Renaissance’.
Sadly Michael passed away in November 2012 and is greatly missed.
Annie decided to keep the music alive and kept touring with Renaissance in support of their album 'Symphony of Light'.

With their musical virtuosity, five strong lead voices, newest technological instrumentation and love for the music, they have created a new sound taking them into a new age and performing the repertoire with powerful precision across the world. This incarnation of Renaissance is new and different and is nothing short of amazing!

Annie Haslam & Renaissance recently released their new DVD entitled ‘A Symphonic Journey’ and are currently embarked on their Day of the Dreamer Tour –in support of their new DVD/2CD set while performing selected US dates this Fall.

The DVD was filmed in October of 2017 and included for the first time the addition of The Renaissance Chamber Orchestra, a hand-picked group of 10 musicians, including strings, woodwind, brass and percussion. For this new DVD the band returned to the Keswick Theatre, this time employing the use of track and boom mounted cameras to create more up close and personal shots of the band and orchestra. The concert also featured large screen projections of original paintings by Annie Haslam, with corresponding titles to each song performed throughout the concert.

At 15 Sonja Kristina was studying drama whilst sharing billing with such luminaries as Sandy Denny, Al Stewart and Buffy Saint Marie.

Sonja, a barefoot hippie wild-child whose friends in the late ‘60s were radical revolutionaries, Hells Angels, writers and poets, and celebrated musicians, played Chrissie in the Original London Cast of Hair in 1968. In 1970 Sonja Kristina became the voice of Curved Air.

Curved Air soon became renowned for their virtuosity and thrilling shows. Their albums were top 20 best sellers, as was the hit single Back Street Luv. The influential original members were electric violinist Darryl Way, electronica pioneer and guitarist/ keyboard player, Francis Monkman and drummer Florian Pilkington- Miksa. From 1970 to the present-day Sonja Kristina has been the one constant member of Curved Air.

In 1973, 17-year-old Eddie Jobson (Roxy Music / UK/ Frank Zappa) replaced both Monkman and Way during the ‘Air Cut’ era. In 1974 -76 Stewart Copeland came straight from college to critical acclaim as Curved Air’s drummer. At the end of ’76 Curved Air broke up and Sonja had a ringside seat at the birth of Punk and the astronomic rise of Stewart’s band ‘The Police’, during Sonja and Stewart’s 16-year relationship.

By1989 Sonja Kristina re-invented folk rock with a fiery brand of music she dubbed Acid Folk. Curved Air’s violinist Paul Sax and Keyboard player Robert Norton toured with Sonja Kristina’s Acid Folk Band until 1996, playing Glastonbury and other festivals year after year.

Since 2000 Sonja has been working with Composer/Producer/ Cellist/Violinist Marvin Ayres, known for his unique manipulation of sound textures and audio-visual installations. They have two releases as MASK. “Heavy Petal, the Tene-brous Odyssey of Jack and Virginia’ and ‘Technopia’.

Marvin Ayres produced the 2012 Curved Air ‘Live Atmosphere’ CD.

The constant flame leading Curved Air through the decades, Sonja Kristina's hypnotic attraction endures today, "vibrant and edgy as ever, Sonja, the original prog diva gives a charismatic and highly visual performance. Looking like a glamorous gipsy queen with her flowing red hair and dressed in sparkly black, that signature voice is still smoky and seductive as she spins around the stage around the excellent musicians who are Curved Air".
